Bread Club struggles to break bread in the virtual world

Bread Club, founded by senior Alex DeCarli and Deep Run alumni Nicolas Milani, began last September. They formed the Bread Club to bond over their love of bread and create strong fellowship among its student members.

“It’s really like a social potluck, you bring bread and eat it together,” DeCarli said

DeCarli and junior Murphy Holton are co-presidents, while Hanah Kyriakacus manages the social media account and advertisements. Bread club started their unofficial meetings two years ago, but last year it became an official club. It has become popular for its companionship and variety of unique bread. Like so many other social groups, Bread Club is struggling to find its new role in a socially-distanced world.

“We are looking forward to holding in-person club meetings,” DeCarli said. “We attempted to do one outside of school, but I felt it wasn’t in the club members’ best interest because of the virus.”

Bread club meets one to two times a month. Students interested should contact club sponsor, Mr.Ashe.
