Sarah Matthews, administrative assistant to Dr. Fellows, is new to the school, but certainly not new to the education field. Before starting at Deep Run, her background was in childcare. She has also worked in several schools in the local area, including the Collegiate School and Canterbury Community. Most recently, she was the Director of Primrose School of Twin Hickory.
My favorite part is working with the entire staff at Deep Run, especially Melissa, Julie, and Destiny. Our team is relatively new to Deep Run this year, but we have a great team dynamic. I’m thankful for such a wonderful team and their willingness to help support any needs of the school. — Sarah Matthews
“My responsibilities as the principal’s secretary include managing Dr. Fellows’ calendar to arrange appointments with teachers, students, and parents. I also work with the entire administrative team to schedule meetings or interviews for vacant positions within the school. Some of my other duties include managing payroll, handling faculty and staff absences, and documenting staff extended leaves,” Matthews said.
Matthews attended James River High School in Midlothian, and later attended Lynchburg College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Matthews has enjoyed her time at Deep Run so far.
