The Red Cross Club focuses on raising awareness and providing aid to the Richmond Red Cross and our community.

“Students organize disaster preparedness, blood drives, fundraisers,” club sponsor and history teacher Nicole Albright said.

The club’s president is senior Jess Ligon, and their vice president is senior Kaitlyn Correll.

“This year I am excited for what we are doing, and I’m excited about having a role where I can shape the club into what I want it to be,” Ligon said.

The school’s current virtual setting isn’t stopping the club’s ambitious goals.  They are planning an online fundraiser to raise money for delivering care and comfort to those in need.

“We have not yet been able to find out exactly the activities we can schedule to do virtually, but I am definitely looking forward to them,” Correll said.

The Red Cross Club might not have the same platform that they did last year, but they are striving to match their past success.

“We are doing everything we can to make our club as similar to what it was last year when we were in school,”  Ligon said.

The club plans to host their fundraisers at local restaurants and have online gaming tournaments.

The Red Cross Club meets the first Tuesday of every month. Students interested in joining should contact Ms. Albright.
