WEAD and theatre fundraiser

This is the 17th year that our theatre department has partnered up with West End Academy of Dance for their annual recital. Their recital this year is a Frozen-Oz twist, to be held on Saturday, June 1, at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. and on Sunday, June 2 at 1 p.m. The theatre department helps support the dance academy by helping out back stage and with all of the technology.

“This partnership gives my students real-world experience with professional theatre personnel in lighting, sound, and stage management,” theatre teacher Mrs. Gibson said.

The theatre department is creating a silo, rolling hills, “Rainbow City” gate, front of a house, and apple trees for the set of the recital.

“Mainly we are just painting different parts for the set and repainting the gates,” drama student Nick Milani said.

The department benefits from the partnership, too. The theatre department receives a monetary donation to help better fund their programs. Wildcat Drama Boosters also helps at concessions, which also helps the theatre program.
