HISTORY TEACHER

AUSTIN CAMPBELL

“During my senior year in high school, I did a teacher internship in my school. It was a freshmen geography class, and I liked working with others. At the time, the idea of working at a desk job didn’t really appeal to me, so I ended up going through Longwood’s teacher program. I was a manager at a neighborhood convenience store during high school and college before I started teaching here, but this was my first job out of college. In college, government was at the absolute bottom of my list when it came to topics I wanted to teach. At the time I just wasn’t that interested in it. My focus was Global History and when I first started teaching here, I was the World History I and II teacher for several years. One day I was asked to teach Government and over the years it’s really grown on me. […] I really like teaching Government because there is always something to talk about. It’s really a class that is so connected to everything around us. Pretty much anything can be tied back to government. As for Psychology, it’s been fun teaching and learning how the human body works on a physical and mental level.”
