Spirit should flood the school as Wildcats dress up in preparation for the upcoming homecoming weekend, but this year seemed to be a bit more miss than hit. The SCA organized spirit days to align with the “Under the Sea” homecoming theme.
On Tuesday, Oct. 10, students were to dress as either a biker or a surfer. Some students, like junior Ellia Nickerson, love to participate in the spirit week because they enjoy dressing in the themes.
“I love dressing up for spirit week because it’s so much fun and enjoyable. I think other students don’t participate in it because they think no one else will,” Nickerson said.
There was no spirit wear on Wednesday, Oct. 11, due to students taking the PSAT and seniors attending their convocation. However, students on Thursday, Oct. 12, were encouraged to dress in yacht club attire. This theme sparked more interest for participation.
“My favorite theme was the country club/yacht club theme because it was funny and easy to do,” sophomore Bobby Nodar said.
On the final day of spirit week, Friday, each grade level was encouraged to dress as a Spongebob Squarepants character that was specific to the student’s grade level. At the homecoming pep rally, which also commenced on Friday, seniors of the pep rally committee, Katelyn Miller and Trey Gauch, showed their spirit through their matching shirts. Seniors seemed to be fond of this theme as seen in the amount of pink attire throughout the school that day, but students from other grades did not participate at the same rate.
