The Wildcat News Channel weatherman episode is a weekly dose of humor for Wildcats. The role of weatherman is often fulfilled by a singular comical senior; however, this year the role is fulfilled by multiple weathermen. Seniors Grayson Truda and Luke Hirchfield auditioned last spring to earn the shared weatherman position.
“The leaders of WCN came to the decision to have two weathermen because the role is very time consuming, and we feel as though Luke and Grayson do a great job of complementing one another’s media abilities. So far, the two have been incredibly entertaining,” Wildcat News sponsor and CTE teacher Ashley Dogoli said.
Truda has a history in videography and editing skills, so this role was another way for him to broaden his skills.
“I decided I wanted to do this role since my freshman year because the weatherman that year was funny and crowd-engaging. Being a weatherman has exercised my videography and editing skills and has allowed me to have an outlet to show my abilities to our school,” Truda said.
Its crucial for the WCN weathermen to be engaging and entertaining for wildcats.
“Multiple teachers and students have told me that students put down their phones, lift their heads, and tune in when our weathermen episodes come on our stream. So when selecting our weatherman, we ensure that they will continue the trend of followers that the weather segments have. I think these two [Truda and Hirchfeild] have done a fantastic job,” Dogoli said.
The boys do a great job of supporting one another despite the onscreen rivalry they have.
“Our episodes are all about competing against each other to get the weatherman position, but in reality we are good friends. Grayson’s cool and makes his videos interesting and engaging,” Hirchfield said.
Though the weatherman role is now fulfilled by two people, the students are exceeding the role’s expectations entirely.
