During their senior nights, senior athletes are honored at a late season home game by walking out with their parents, often being adorned with a sash and flowers, and celebrating with their friends in numerous ways before their game starts. As seniors close out their high school career during their sporting events on this special night, the celebration doesn’t begin or end there on the field or court.
“Before, we were all together at dinner and we were all super excited but a little nervous because we knew it would be a hard game. All the seniors this year are super close and we all contribute to the game in our different positions,” senior volleyball player Elise Wisor said.
Senior cheerleader Corinne Knudson has cheered all throughout high school and finally celebrated her senior night in October. While she reflects on the past, she is also excited for what is yet to come.
“I have loved competing on this team for the last four years and can’t wait to see what the future holds,” Knudson said.
Also cheering with Knudson, senior Lena Smith looked forward to her senior night as well.
“Leading up to the night, I was very excited because I had helped plan it last year for the seniors, and I knew it was going to be a great night,” Smith said.
As Smith prepares herself for college, she isn’t ready to leave her senior year quite yet.
“It was a bittersweet moment because I am excited to go to college, yet it made me realize how special these last few senior firsts are,” Smith said.
Senior wildcat athletes have made their mark through their sports and will be missed next year.
