Every day the parking lot fills with different cars and turns heads. From bright colors to fun decorations, a few Wildcats have rides that catch the eye.
Junior Josie Ricci drives an extremely recognizable vehicle: a bright orange Volkswagen Beetle she got from her mom.
“My mom bought the car [when I was] in seventh grade with the hopes of passing it down to me, and it was more of a spontaneous purchase,” Ricci said.
Ricci often has people talk to her about her unique wheels.
“I have people say stuff about my car all the time. I have noticed a lot of people know that I drive that car, and I didn’t ever tell them,” Ricci said.
The exterior isn’t the only intriguing thing about her car, however. Her interior is another quirky design that stands out.
“There are a lot of decorations in my car. […] I have a giant turtle keychain and a bunch of sea glass hanging from my rear view mirror and little fake flowers on my air fresheners,” Ricci said.
Senior Gabe Shimel also rocks a car that stands out from the rest of the lot: a 2023 Jeep Wrangler named “Jeff.”

“Jeff has a ton of purple accents on him, along with a medieval/Renaissance festival theme. His hood has purple letters spelling ‘Huzzah,’” Shimel said.
Shimel has specifically added some seasonal decorations to his ride for the upcoming holiday season.
“Currently, for the holidays, my Jeep has a wreath on the front and the back,” Shimel said.
Another Wildcat with a stylish car is junior Riley Haefner with her Blue Ford Bronco Sport. She often gets compliments on her car’s unique design.
“I get a lot of compliments about it when I drive my friends, definitely a lot of people complimenting how nice it is and how they love the color,” Haefner said.

To acquire the car, however, Haefner first had to put in some work.
“My dad told me that if I got a job, he’d get me a car, so I got a job at a summer camp. I didn’t even think I was getting the car when I did; my dad actually texted me during class asking what color I wanted, and he picked me up from school that day with my new car,” Haefner said.
Many of these rides are more than just an engine and some wheels; they are a reflection of personalities. Whether that’s a medieval-themed Jeep or a nature grove Beetle, every car has its own story behind it.
