Met Gala: Wear or Tear?

On Sept. 13, the Met Gala was held in New York City inside of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This event is cherished by the fashion community, with celebrities and influencers showing up in unique ensembles to showcase the theme of the ball. American pride was the theme for this year’s event. The night is dedicated to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute; the fundraiser garnered a record-breaking $16,750,000 this year. Music artists, Rihanna and her significant other, A$AP Rocky, attended the Gala together. Rihanna was dressed in a Balenciaga black overcoat with extravagant jewelry. She also wore a matching black hat from Stephen Jones Millinery to complete the look. Rocky wore a cape-like quilt by Eli Russell Linnetz. Rihanna’s dazzling outfit was definitely a statement piece; I loved it personally. However, A$AP Rocky’s was quite tacky. His look was very different from normal outfits which is a positive, but I don’t think this was the best outfit. The reasoning behind this would be the color differences and it could be considered as somewhat of an eyesore. I would wear Rihanna’s outfit and tear Rocky’s.
